The COP master is a universal CPU board for use as a compact control system without fieldbus, as a compact control system with fieldbus (fieldbus master) or as a fieldbus slave with decentralised intelligence.
The COP master can accept up to any six COP plug-in boards, which are responsible for selecting the peripherals. In addition to the standard plug-in boards available, customised boards can also be developed and produced at favourable cost.
As the CPU board of a compact control system or as a fieldbus master, the COP master executes customer-specific machine software on the basis of Indel’s INOS real-time operating system. It controls and coordinates all peripherals: axes, analogue and digital inputs and outputs, counters, customer peripherals etc.
Where the COP master is used as a fieldbus slave, it functions as an active bus coupler with its own CPU. The local processing power can be used for the pre-processing of signals or for running customer-specific algorithms.
Communication between the COP master and a PC-based HMI is via Ethernet.
Applications such as high-speed automated production machines for the automotive market, pick-and-place machines for the semiconductor industry or packaging systems in the food sector are typical uses.
